Grass Courts Open

Dear Members,

We’re delighted to let you know that our grass courts are now open for play, a sure sign that summer tennis is well and truly on its way!

To help keep them in top condition for everyone to enjoy, please take a moment to follow the guidelines below:

Grass Court Guidelines
Whiteboard Booking System
- All grass court bookings must be made using the whiteboard outside the clubhouse. Please ensure your name and start time are clearly written.
- Bookings are for 1 hour only if others are waiting
- Add your name and start time (start times cannot be changed)
- If courts are full, use the waiting column appropriately
- Only book when all players are present and ready to play
- Do not add your name to the waiting list if you are already playing or being coached
- Be mindful of any pre-booked sessions (e.g. coaching)

Net Down = No Play
- The grass courts require regular maintenance. If a net is down on a court, this means play is not permitted on that court.

Court Conditions, The “Kneel Test”
- Especially after rain or heavy dew, please check if courts are dry enough before playing.
- Kneel on the grass (in suitable clothing)
- If your knee gets wet, the court is too wet for play

No Play Before 10:00am
- This helps protect the surface during early morning moisture.

Check with Alan
- If you’re ever unsure whether the courts are playable, please speak to Alan, our groundsman, who will be happy to advise

We kindly ask all members to respect these guidelines to help preserve the quality of the courts throughout the season.

Enjoy the grass, play well and look forward to seeing you out there!

Best regards,

James Charman
Head coach
